day one and two
greetings from albany!
we played in troy tonight, at a sort of art gallery type thing. it was pretty neat. a good vibe through the whole room. the backyard was awesome. it had a garden and trees and christmas lights hanging where a potential roof could be, if that makes sense? it was an all acoustic show which was something out of the ordinary for me.
ithaca was an adventure. tim and doug and i embarked on thursday around noonish. we got to ithaca and ended up listesning to records and drinking gin and tonics. followed by that we hit the short stop deli to get vegan sandwiches. we then went to the space at no radio records and hung out until we got to play. tim opened and then i played. i had a bunch of technical problems and the like. nat baldwin showed up and his friend charlie played first and then nat played the best set i've ever seen him play. he had a trumpeteer. we then went to a nice bar called korova where we drank expensive apricot wheat beers. sleep soon overcame after returning to kevin's and the viewing of episodes of mr. show. we woke up to an awesome breakfast of potatoes and tofu scramble. oh and some gimme lean sausage. we decided to hit some bookstores and i found a cool magazine with an interview with rachel sumpter, an awesome sf illustator. we then went to this book store with a huge basement full of records that was apparently owned by the guy who runs the bob shop. i got XTC - english settlement on double vinyl. i'll continue the rest of ithaca tomorrow, when everyone's not trying to sleep.
