drums
on saturday, i woke up (after minimal sleep) to track some drums for my old band "good friends with sharp scissors". so far we have taken care of 3 of our 5 songs. i then went to work and got tired. i then went to a friends house and stayed up late again. in between being tired at work and my friends house, i was cold at the a/v space and played some drums for my friends band called "semen seagal" - what a name?! but i'll let you know about the drum tracks for good friends when we finish.
also:
jason anderson will be coming back to play my apartment this friday(the 19th)
tell your friends!
i will be playing too. 8 pm ish. you know the rest of the details.
before this, i will be going to the planetarium with my mother. no joke, and i am so excited! it's my mothers birthday tomorrow.
i'm also real excited for the barr show that's coming up in march. brendan, the person behind barr is such a nice guy and spends his time well at creating things that will better our artistic community. you should check his contributions out - you can google "alleged gallery" and "anp quarterly" if you want to dig into it. i'm trying to get a steady subscription of anp somewhere in rochester so we can all enjoy it here! plus, it's free and always covers awesome artists and musicians among other things.
one last thing: also an idea (as i haven't been short on them recently).
taking a few of my favorite songs that are very pretty sounding and cutting them up into smaller instrumental loops, then mashing them up with other songs and finally slowing them down a whole bunch (i.e. chopping and screwing) in order to play guitar and sing over them. i want to make an e.p. this way. i've already been toying with mirah, the robot ate me and american football.
listen to this kind of music:
mirah - 100 knives - song
skeletons and the girl-faced boys - git - album
mf doom - true thug and rhymes like dimes - songs
quasimoto - mhbs - song
scout niblett - sweet heart fever - album
(i can't tell what i really think about scout niblett as of right now.. if you're reading this and have an opinion i'm interested in it.. because her music is very interestingly minimal.)
[party hardy, rock n' roll!
i know my neighbors are doing so, and how - all night!]
